ZetaChain reimagines a new standard for interoperability and how users and developers can interact with blockchains. It provides a unified execution environment (resembling a centralized exchange), but in a decentralized, programmable, and accessible way into the future.
Centralized ledgers or exchanges (CEX) is the first example of a unified execution environment for blockchain convergence. To-date, they provide a meaningful utility: a user gets assets or data on one chain, sends it to the CEX intermediary, which interacts in a unified execution environment (trading, saving, using other instruments), and then the user withdraws out to a different chain he desires. Exchanges substantiated the need for blockchain interoperability.
Drawbacks of the CEX demonstrate a need for a more decentralized, expandable version of blockchain interoperability.
