ZetaChain is running an incentivized testnet through its Athens-3 network to further develop its protocol and community, including: security, operations, performance, and user experience. This is an all-in effort to battle-test the network in preparation for mainnet launch. While the testnet is currently focused on onboarding experienced validators and developers, it will ultimately become an environment used for testing and developing on ZetaChain.
ZetaChain Incentivized Testnet Phase Tasks
The program will comprise of 4 primary phases, each with its own associated rewards, determined by participation and contributions to the testnet. See below to learn more about incentives.
With Phase 4 and beyond, the Athens-3 network will transition into a long-term testnet available for ZetaChain developers and partners to test their applications and features prior to launching on Mainnet. Athens-2 will subsequently be shut down (the ZetaChain team will release a timeline for this after Athens-3 stabilizes).
ZetaChain has allocated 0.2% of total token supply to the incentivized testnet program. Eligible participants may receive a Testnet Validator role in the ZetaChain Discord, as well as opportunities for other testnet-validator-operator incentives in the future. Reward-eligible participation will be capped at 150 total participants. This is to ensure a productive and strongly incentivized environment to battle-test the network. Anyone is free to run a node/validator on their own as instructions and binaries are released publicly.
Reward-eligible testnet participants will need to successfully pass KYC/KYB verification in order to receive rewards. All participants will be notified via email or Telegram of their approval as a reward-eligible participant.
Rewards will be distributed among participants per-phase. All rewards will be distributed to approved and eligible participants beginning after ZetaChain’s mainnet launch, locked for 1 year. Note that all participation and rewards are subject to Terms.
